Why is Patty Hajdu calling questions and anger from voters about government Covid policies "harassment" ("aggressive pressure or intimidation") (Hajdu calls out alleged PPC intimidation tactics, Aug 24, 2021)? In case she forgot, this is an election campaign!
Hajdu is one of the most powerful politicians in the country, the Minister of Health, and she is running on a federal Liberal platform that is calling for mandatory vaccines. Remember that Justin Trudeau said he wanted Canadians to weigh in on this issue during the election. He said: "We will be taking decisions that will last not just for the coming months but for the coming decades. Canadians deserve their say. That's exactly what we're going to give them." The Liberals are promoting mandatory vaccines for everyone, in spite of uncertainty about the safety and efficacy of the experimental vaccines. Everyone includes youth who have less than a 1% chance of dying from Covid. As tragic as any death is, there were only 15 deaths among those younger than 19 across Canada attributed to Covid since 2020 out of a total of 27,000 deaths as of Aug 18, 2021. For some perspective, In 2020, total deaths in the <19 age group were 3,267, 1,563 of those in babies less than a year old.
If Hajdu can't take some questioning and anger from her constituents about her government's policies, then maybe she should reconsider her calling. I can understand the frustration of citizens questioning Covid policies because it seems that any opposition to those policies pre-election has been censored. Voters finally have a chance to face their elected representatives and demand answers and accountability. You know the saying--if you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen.
